How we got started! In
October 2005, 10 men got together for lunch at Champ's in South
Jersey . They talked about the good old days and the good times
they had in sports playing with and against each other. It was such
a good time that they decided to do it again and try to get more
“Old Timers” to come. When we met again at Champs in Northeast Philly,
there were 28 men that came, and a good time was had by all.
Jack Purdy, Ron Fritz, Ron March, Chas MacGregor, Chuck Newns, Jim McDonnell, and Wayne McKeever
said “Now that we have something started here, let's see if we can
get more Old Timers to join us at our lunches.”

Our next luncheon at Wacky
Jack's on Willet's Road had 68 men in attendance. We decided
that we should come up with a name for our “Old Timers” and
to do more to make our luncheons better. Jack Purdy came up
with the name “Old Timers Bats and Balls” and made the logo.
As our luncheons grew we got too big for
Wacky Jacks and moved to our current location at Randi's,
1619 Grant Avenue, Philadelphia, PA. At our luncheon on January
14, 2010 we had 144 people in attendance.
